Haiku is a beautiful form and more complex than some may realize. I am only now beginning to understand just how complex it truly is … complex in its simplicity.

To prepare for our national (U.S.) Poetry Month in April, I offer you some of my first Haikus, written in the 1970s. I hope to show maturity of my form in a future post.

the young cubs are strong;

elder lions dream of youth–

his eyes are dying.
